3 June 2010 (Thursday) is a special day. Prefectorial Board held its augural one day camp “BOAL” on this day. This idea to hold a one day camp started last year. I noticed, besides the prefect meeting, fellow prefects have very few chances to meet one another. Prefects need to have more opportunities to meet and bond. Hence, I proposed this idea of having a team bonding camp to Mr Tan Ying Kiat during PSLE marking in 2009. A large amount of background work is done to bring about this camp. It started with the sourcing of fund, begging Mdm Lim and Mr Loh for money. We looked out for vendors for the camp. A few weeks before the camp, preparation of the camp begins; booking of the facilities, sending out of consent forms, collecting of cheques (big headache) and catering of food. It is hard work.
But good time is always short. All good things come to an end. Prefectorial Board augural one day camp “BOAL” has come to an end. I hope it has brought you sweet memories.
Drop me a comment and share with me how do you think about the camp.
1. Do you like the camp? What do you like about the camp?
2. Would you want to have another similar camp next year?
3. What is the greatest lesson you have learnt from the camp?
4. Are there ways to improve the camp? Tell me how?
Remember to include your name and class.

ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I attended a prefect day camp. The games were fun and the food was delicious, though I had to queue for quite sometime before I could have my stomach filled. There was air-con to enjoy too under such hot weather! During the game time, I learnt that teamwork and co-operation are very important in order to get things done in the fastest time. I do wish to attend such a camp next year.

I like the camp especially the games and the food (millions of thanks for Ms Peh to buy such delicious food).I have learnt about determination and teamwork. I would like another camp next year but not on a holiday as most people may have gone for a vacation.
ReplyDeleteMok Xiao Fan of Pri 5D
I enjoyed the camp, particularly the game where we built a monument. The food catered was also rather good. I would like to have another similar camp next year but sadly I will be graduating this year...D: The greatest lesson I have learnt is about teamwork. Without teamwork, our group would not have been able to carry out the activities and games successfully.

Hi Ms Peh i would like to thank you for the arrangement, especially the food it was marvellous again a very huge thank you!!!! I like the camp and it was excellent because i have learn a lot like cooperation and teamwork and i think we should more of this camps as we can know the new prefects coming next year!!!! i think it is ok i think threre is not a need for improvent because this camp is the best of the best!!!!!!!!! ReplyDelete1. I definitely liked the camp! It was a great idea to encourage bonding between the various duty groups as it helped us to know each other better.
ReplyDelete2. I'd love to have another camp next year but UNFORTUNATELY WE'RE LEAVING!!! It would be good for the next batch, though.
3. I have learnt the importance of being determined and resilience. Although our group failed many times, we wanted to keep trying until we made it. It's also good to keep a positive outlook on things.
4. To improve the camp, perhaps more activities could be included? And how about a three day camp where we camp out in the classrooms??? XD
Jemi Lu of Pri 6N
I enjoyed the camp, especially the games. I only didn't like dancing chicken dance. I enjoyed the food too. I learnt about the importance of determination and teamwork. I hope we would have another camp next year.

Um, i like the camp because it is interesting, and fun too. Also, our group was made up of the AV and announcement prefects, so we got to know each other more, when we usually do not talk to each other. I like the video clips as they are funny and entertaining, yet there is a moral we learn from it. I am a P6, so if there is a camp next year i cannot come. Still, the juniors would like it, i think. Things I have learnt from the camp is that i must run faster. *chuckles* But i probably learnt that we must be confident in ourselves, that we can succeed.
ReplyDeleteWays to improve-> may be it can be a 2 day 1 night camp, so we can sleep together with our fellow prefects of the same gender. It would be fun!
Also, it should not just be in school. Maybe it can be in Pulau Ubin, where we must trek there(in order for us to endure hardships), and live there for like 2 days so we can learn lifeskills there like cooking, medicine and so on. I think it would benefit us a lot. maybe not us because the P6 would be gone.:(
Overall, i enjoyed this camp because it has bond us prefects together better.:)
I liked the camp very much. The food was delicious! Although the hall was hot, the games we played there were fun and exciting. I learnt about leadership and teamwork. Teamwork is important in order to solve or do things quickly. I wish to have another camp next year.

I enjoyed the camp tremendously. Thank you Ms Peh for the effort put in. I enjoyed the games, clips and the food the best. The games allowed us to experience different types of games. They were also games that I had never played before. They were fun and really made me crack my brain. The clips (Kungfu Panda) was funny and intersting, making us laugh a lot. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed lunch and tea. Once again, thank you, Ms Peh. I would really like another one next year, but I think we should also work with prefects of other duties and more activities (games etc.).

oops, forgot to add a 'have' between and and more (last sentence).
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this prefect camp a lot,I love the games and the food that was prepared(thank you Ms Peh for that).Yes,I would like to have another camp like this the next time but i am P6 this year,so this is my last prefect camp D=.I had learned more about my prefect duty friends, teamwork, determination, confident is important and always strive for the best in whatever u are doing and lastly believe in yourself so u will suceed.I think that the camp could be a 1 day and 1 night camp so we can spend more times with our prefect friends and learn more, and the teachers could not only split us into our duty groups, the teacher could also put us with other prefects that we do not know so we could also make more friends at the same time. =D =P
ReplyDeleteYap Chen Yi Michelle(18) 6J o_0
I really enjoyed the camp as I liked playing the games with my fellow prefects even though it was very hot.I learnt that if we want to succeed in doing something, we have to do work together, and must be resilient. This camp has also strenghten the bonds between my friends in the same duty group.I also made a few more friends during the camp. Also, instead of a 1 day camp, maybe it could be a 2 day camp. This way, we could have more activities and the time for each activity could be longer.I really hope there is another prefect camp next year and would perhaps be more enjoyable than this year's.
ReplyDeleteTan Guan Chwen 5B
I think that the prefect camp was once in a life time experience for me. As I am P6 this year, i will not have anymore chances to attend anymore of this kind of camps if there is anymore... :(
ReplyDeleteThe camp taught me a lot of things that i knew but I didn't really think about it deeper and this camp allowed me to open eyes and see things that i never actually considered or thought of.
I am very happy to have attend this camp as i feel that i know how to be a better person and leader. :D
The camp taught us about R3ICH through games and it was very fun. :)
The trainers and games and EVERYTHING was extremely fun and i am very happy that the prefectorial board planned this day camp.
Thinking back, I feel and learnt through the games that we should never blame or accuse others when we think that they cheat. Instead, we should make sure that we ourselves is doing the right thing. I also think that we should learn not to complain whenever we face difficulties in our way. We should have a positive attitude, ( just like how my group's name is "Positive Prefects" !) haha.
All in all, i hope that the junior prefects have a great time being a prefect!
well, i enjoyed the camp... i liked the games and food :) thanks a lot. However.. i will b leaving so this would be the last camp though... well, maybe you could make it a 3D2N camp instead :) it'll be fun. I learnt that teamwork determination and focus are equally important... =) and again, thanks a lot for this great idea of having a prefect camp =0
ReplyDeletebryan tay 6L
I really liked the camp as it was very fun. This camp taught me a lot of things like teamwork, R3ICH. I also made new friends during the camp. The camp should be longer like 2 days or more and it need not be in the school. The time for the activities should be longer and there should be more games.I hope that there will be a prefect camp next year.=D
ReplyDeleteWee Celine 5B
I didn't like the camp...I LOVED the camp!!I learnt to be more focused when I do my work, learnt to be a better leader.I think that in the future camps,we should go somewhere open!!!Camp using tents...NO air conditioning,NO buffets etc.The last thing I really learnt about this camp is that we prefects were not chosen by accidents...and we must believe that...I also hope that when I go to my future secondary school,I will get to be a PREFECT!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGrace Lim 6E
This camp was really a extremely nice camp and i had enjoyed it very much especially the games. It would be splendid if there will be another in 2011.I learnt that cooperation and teamwork are very important. It would be better if there were more games!Ha Ha!
ReplyDeleteEvian 4j
I enjoyed myself thoroughly and had a whale of a time today. The games we played were fun and interesting, especially the Bomb Game.
ReplyDeleteAs the facilitator said, it is not about what the end is, it is about what we brought home today. I have learnt many things and values through these activities. They may seem easy and you may think you can breeze through it, but once you try, you find it very challenging.
I learnt that Respect, Responsibility, Resillience, Determination, Integrity, Harmony, Care, quick thinking, being alert and sharp, Teamwork and Co-operation is very important.
I encourage more of such activities in future(best after PSLE). They are fun and engaging!

BOAL camp REFLECTION
ReplyDelete1. Do you like the camp? What do you like about the camp?
I like the camp. I especially like the fun and games. I feel that this camp was a good exposure for me. It taught me how to be a good leader and also allowed me to practice the leadership skills I had learnt. The facilitators were also very knowledgeable and patient. I also learnt a lot of things from the camp that I can practice in my daily life.
2. Would you want to have another similar camp next year?
Yes.
3. What is the greatest lesson you have learnt from the camp?
I learnt how a true leader should be. A true leader must possess the R3ICH qualities. I also learnt that teamwork, cooperation and understanding must be practiced when working with others.
4. Are there ways to improve the camp? Tell me how?
I feel that the camp is good enough and I enjoyed it. Thus, I feel that there is no need for a major improvement.

I enjoyed myself today during the BOAL camp. We played many interesting games and had lots of fun. I really enjoyed the food that were provided for us to eat!!:") I learnt that we must have teamwork and patience during the various games, so as to accomplish the games within the certain time given to us. The camp also taught me more about R3ICH!! Responsibility, Respect, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ms Peh, for what you have done for us!!

I truly enjoyed myself during the Prefects Day Camp. We played many interesting games, had a lot of fun and faced many challenges.
ReplyDeleteFrom this camp, I learnt that we must have teamwork in order to succeed in anything we do with our groups. Most of all, I have learnt that we must have determination and strive for excellence in whatever we do. The camp also taught me that a leader must have the values of R3ICH- Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony.
Thank you Ms Peh for holding such a fruitful camp for us!

I really enjoyed myself during the Prefects Day Camp. We had alot of fun and faced many challenges.I learnt from this camp that we must have teamwork in order to succeed in anything we do as a team. Most importantly,we must have determination and strive for excellence in whatever we do.I love the "ticking bomb" game as we had to think of how to improve ourselves to do better.
ReplyDeleteI have also made friends with my other team members.
Thank you Ms Peh for letting us have so much fun in one day!
this camp was my first as well as my last but i had great fun in it i hope that the next badge can also have as much fun as i had.i learnt about lots of leadership quality such as to never give up n if u believe u can do it,then u can do it=)i found the games fun n engaging.i also love the food tat the school had provided n i thx ms peh for the hardwork u had put in for us to have such a fruitful day.but i think tat it would be better if it had been 2days 1 nite so tat we can learn more abt one another in the same duty as we dont really get to know each other on normal circumstances. but all in all it was still very fun n once a again thx Ms. Pei!

Yes,this was a fun camp. The guy who took me was Jabez Loh. The camp was interesting as the games were fun, and the people were friendly. The games, even though tiring, were fun. The 'ticking time bomb' game was especially tiring. If you ask me whether i would like to have the camp again, i would say YES! Of course! But i will pity those who miss the camp. Maybe we could have a 2 day 1 night camp in the hall.

I really enjoyed this camp, especially the games such the ticking time bomb. Although I attended only half of the camp, I still learned lots of things such as to be a greater leader.I think that the prefectorial board camp should be held on the last day of the school rather than during the school holidays as many of us have programmes and have aready gone for holidays.

I learned that we need to have teamwork and a positive attidude to succeed in whatever we do. The camp taught me more about leardership and the school core values: Respect, Responsibility, Risilience, Integrity, Care, Harmony. I just want to conclude that the camp was great especially the food.:)
ReplyDelete~Isabella Woo 6D~
I throughly enjoyed the camp.(especially the food) The facils were really helpful and I got to meet my friends who are not in the same class as me this year. I thought it was a good idea to mix two duty groups toghther. For instance, i am an announcment prefect and was in the same team with a few other announcers and the Av prefects. Usually, though we work in the same area, we don't talk much but after the camp, we know each other a lot better and a comfortable interacting with each other. The games were also well organised and made such that everyone had to be an active participant. Group name and cheers also brought us together under a common identity. Definitely i would want to have another camp next year if i could. ): sad, i'm p6 this year. Well, hope my juniors have an enjoyable camp like this next year. The camp taught me how to be a good leader and our school values in relation to overcoming any obstacles in the role of a leader. The importance of planning and communication was also brought out. Hmm.....how to improve. maybe we could have another of these camps after the p6's PSLE. (still hoping.....)

I loved the camp! It was very fun. The games were very creative and enjoyable! Looking back on my earlier comments of the camp, of course, I want to have another of this camp! I learnt that nothing is accidental ("There are no accidents,") and to be a better leader, and I also understand why the slide 'The call of a leader' was shown so many times :D.
ReplyDeleteI hope this does not come so bluntly, but the projector screens on the left is a little blurred :/. Maybe the projector can be fixed?
Overall, the camp was fun!

I liked the BOAL camp and enjoyed the games, especially the ticking time bomb game, which is a game that I had never played before. The food was sumptuous and I loved the eclairs! :)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely like to have another camp next year as this camp gave me a great opportunity to get to know my fellow prefects better and form closer friendshps with them.
I learnt that teamwork is the key to success. For instance, during the ticking time bomb game, we had to communicate effectively with one another. In order to do so, we had to have strong teamwork. Thus, I learnt that teamwork is very important. Overall, I also learnt to be a good leader as well as a good team player.
I think that the duration of the camp is too short. Since this is the only camp for this whole year, a one-day camp is not enough for all prefects to know one another better. Thus, I hope that in the future, there could be a two-day camp or more one-day camps in the year.
In addition, I think that though the venue for this camp is convenient for many, we are not able to do interesting outdoor activities. Hence, I hope that future camps could be held in other places besides the school so that we can have different and more exciting experiences.
Thank you so much Teachers for organising this awesome camp! :)
